Born April 20th 1980 in Villerupt, France
It was in 2003, while involved in guitarist Marc Ducret’s ambitious “Le Sens de la Marche” project, that clarinettist/saxophonist Hugues Mayot — who had already been noticed with the groups Pitch Quartet and La Poche à Sons —, decided to devote himself to the demanding, resolutely trans-genre orientations of his own aesthetic, essentially founded on the taut relationships between organization and energy, taste for form, and the great game of improvisation.
Since graduating from François Théberge’s jazz class at the CNSM in Paris, Hugues Mayot has multiplied experiences with such ensembles as Paul Brousseau’s Kolkhoze Printanium, GleizKrew, or Sylvaine Hélary’s “Spring Roll” project.
