Progressive tenor saxophonist and composer Igor LUMPERT, who currently lives and works in New York, was born on 27 October 1975 in Novo Mesto. When nineteen he began to study at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, Austria. When he graduated with honors in Austria, he won a scholarship to study at the prestigious New School and the autumn of 2000 moved to New York. There he studied with the cream of world musicians: George Garzonejem, Reggijem Workmanom, Buster Williams, Chicom Hamilton and Billy Harper. Lumpertova music is a unique mixture of jazz, funk, eastern rhythms and modern neo bop sketches. His compositional talents has proven itself in the recently concluded European tour with his trio, which consists of Matt Brewer on bass and Tommy Crane on drums.
