Indro is the top bassist in Indonesia, known as a solo artist, educator, and member of Halmahera and Simakdialog. He has also worked with Eric Marienthal, Victor Wooten and many others. Indro Hardjodikoro was born in Jakarta in 1968, and inspired by his brother Manto, started making music in the third grade. Teaching himself, he joined a vocal group as percussionist, and then started singing and playing guitar and harmonica. After that he moved on to bass. His enthusiasm for double bass intensified when he met Bintang Indrianto, but studies continued with Indra Lesmana, Erwin Gutawa and saxophonist Maryono.
Indro met Tohpati Ethnomission in PMMC (Yamaha) and formed a band called Halmahera. The two have collaborated on many projects and recordings including the band Simakdialog.
