Jean-Christophe Cholet, born in 1962, is one of the most unusual French personalities in the field of improvised music. Qualified at the Schola Cantorum in 1985 in piano, harmony, descant and fugue. Besides his solid classical training he also practices jazz and has been composing from a very young age.
Having trained with Kenny Barron, Richie Beirach, Bernard Maury, Bill Dobbins and even Lee Konitz, he takes part in projects with jazz greats Charlie Mariano, Matthias Rüegg, Michel Portal, Louis Sclavis, Paolo Fresu, Rick Margitza, Marc Ducret, Jon Sass, Wolfgang Pushnig and others.
As a soloist in Switzerland he has participated in the symphonic projects of Mathias Rüegg with Claudio Pontiggia, horn, Matthieu Michel, trumpet player, as well as the Cholet-Känzig-Papaux Trio.
