Jean-Paul Bourelly known as an innovative and experimental musical explorer. His music is informed by the rich culture of the migrant community of Haiti and the southern Afro America culture he we was a part of on the south side of Chicago.His tool of choice is the guitar and the pen. His guitar sound can be combustable, deep and bluesy and he excels at merging traditional and modern concepts with creative spontaneity.
Blues Jazz Rock and Haitian roots
Some early experiences were with the Haitian Kompa band “Chicago Express”, as well as early jazz experimental encounters with alto sax composer Steve Coleman, Chess records guitarist Pete Cosey, Nubian influenced Phil Cohran, legendary saxophonist Von Freeman and jazz educator Bunky Green.
