Jeff Albert is a trombonist, improviser, composer and music technologist based in New Orleans, LA. Jeff’s music places high value on melody and interaction, but is informed by his multi-faceted background and experiences. “Unreal, gorgeous, crazy, rudely alive,” is how author David Biedney has described Jeff’s music, and according to Cadence Magazine,”he maintains an ever flowing sense of continuity and enthusiasm.”
Jeff has several on-going musical projects. He leads the Jeff Albert Quintet, which performs many of Jeff’s compositions that come from the free jazz tradition. The quintet’s other members are Ray Moore on saxes, Chris Alford on guitar, Jesse Morrow on bass, and Doug Garrison on drums. Master drummer Dave Cappello is the other half of the Dave Cappello/Jeff Albert Duo which performs completely improvised music. Jeff Albert’s Instigation Quartet is an ensemble that features changing personnel creating improvised music from a consistent set of gestural/textural instructions. The Instigation Quartet
