Jesper Løvdal composes and plays tenorsaxophone. He also plays C-melody-, soprano-, alto- and baritonsaxophone, flute, clarinet, alto- and bassclarinet.
Jesper Løvdal finished his studies at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen in 2001 with a Musicians Diploma. He also has a BA in Music and Humanistic Informatics from University of Copenhagen (1993) and studied at The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York 1993-94.
Jesper Løvdal (born September 12th 1969) started playing piano in 1977 at Hillerød Music School but stopped after 3 years. But since he picked up the saxophone in 1983 inspired by traditionel and swing jazz he hasn't stopped. Pianist and teacher Jørgen Borck was a big inspiration in his approach to playing jazz.
In 1986 Jesper Løvdal attended Brandbjerg and later Vallekilde Jazz Workshops and was thrilled to meet artists as Bob Rockwell, Tomas Franck, Kenny Werner and Jukkis Outilla. The year in New York was a
