Joël Rabesolo was born in 1982 in Antsirabe, Madagascar. Guitarist, author, composer and arranger, he began playing at the age of eight on a traditional Malagasy instrument, the kabosy.
He quickly mastered the triplet rhythms of salegy, the syncopated 4/4 of tsapiky, and other styles typical of his country. Seeing Eric Clapton on TV, he decided to learn more about music.
He developed his chops in different styles by playing in a local group every Saturday night. At 17 he became interested in jazz.
In 2006 he won 1st prize for jazz guitar in a new-talent contest organized by RLI radio, which allowed him to interact with national and foreign professional musicians.
He took part in the performances “Music-Poem” with actor Jean-Paul Delore, and “Music-Choreography-Painting” with Paul Bloas and Bernardo Montet.
