John Keating was born in the Royal Mile, Edinburgh on September 10th, 1927. John started off as an arranger for the famous Ted Heath swing Band, before he started arranging numerous top ten records for 1960's heart-throbs Adam Faith and Eden Kane John then went to the bright lights of Hollywood.It was there that he wrote the score to the film Hotel, the dance sequence in Ed Wood and music for many other shows, including The Jean Arthur TV Series. Back in the UK he scored for the films Robbery and Innocent Bystanders. He wrote two classical compositions, Overture 100 Pipers and Hebridean Impressions, both of which premiered at the Royal Albert Hall in the presence of the Right Hon. Earl Mountbatten, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and were conducted by John.
Hebridean Impressions was subsequently recorded by the same orchestra, and by Bernard Hermann conducting the New Philharmonic
