Joyann Parker was born and raised in Mellen, Wisconsin. She relocated to Minneapolis to become a music teacher. Parker is a trained classical pianist. In Northern Wisconsin the closest thing to the Blues for Joyann was Clapton and Led Zeppelin records her parents had. Mostly, in that area, it’s country music that’s played on the local radio stations.
Joyann didn’t pickup up Blues guitar until later in life. Being the quick learner that she is, Parker picked it up quickly. This process began roughly 6 years ago when she was asked to join a local blues group called Joyann Parker & Sweet Tea. The band won the local Blues contest and made their way to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge. With that experience under her belt she went on to her next studio project “Hard to Love”.
