One of the famous Japanese female artists is Kimiko Kasai. Kimiko Kasai was born in the city of Kyoto, Japan on December 15, 1945. She discovered in her late teens that her passion was to become a jazz vocalist. In 1964, she transferred to Tokyo to become a member of the pianist Yuzuru Sera group as a featured member. Throughout her career, she was referred to as “Kemeco” for her nickname and also in the earliest recorded work where she was featured, “The Modern Playing Mate” by the Yuzura Sera Trio featuring Kimiko Kasai in 1968.
It was then in the 70’s where she jumpstarted her musical career. She went on her own as a solo artist and launched her first album called “Just Friends” in the year of 1970. Like other budding jazz artists, she did a collaboration with the industry’s prolific musicians like Herbie Hancock and
