Under the leadership of pianist & composer Thierry Girault, LEBOCAL is a big band born in Annecy (France) in 1998. From 17 musicians onwards, one is justified to speak of a « Big Band ». The musicians who work within LEBOCAL prefer the term of « Collective », as far as they are concerned ... the nuance being far from insignificant. As everyone will tell you, without sponsors or subsidies, a big band can not last. One needs to be armed with solid passion and a damned sense (or even a sacred sense) of the « Collective », to allow an adventure of this kind to continue.
