Les Oublies de Jazz Ensemble [psuedonym]; playing “ That Nigger Music”; featuring William “smiley” Winters. Touche’ Records album 101 stereo. This is a 1973 record with some great playing and some wild and controversal spoken word. Side 1 starts off with a woman with a heavy French accent introducing the record and talking about Jazz as ‘N*****R’ music and how you have to play it, with some great modern, swinging playing in the background. Next it gets really crazy. A woman who sounds like a militant black panther starts going off about are you gonna play, or you gonna kiss whitey’s ass, and on and on, using every cliche’ about Blacks in the book and then some.
