Born in Porrentruy, Switzerland, in 1974, non-conformistic multi-reedist Lucien Dubuis has been an active musician in the jazz and improvised music scene for several years – with more than a dozen albums to his credit. He has worked with such as Hans Koch, Kalle Kalima, Linda Sharrock, Daniel Erdmann and Marc Ribot and played big festivals in Montreux, Copenhagen, Rome, Willisau, Geneva, Bogotá and other places. “Le Retour”, the 2007 album of his ferociouscrossover punk funk jazz trio with Roman Nowka and Lionel Friedli, was called “the freshest sounding CD of the year” (All About Jazz) and “an infernal fun” (Jazz thing). The trio’s music is a tremendous roar of life, simple and heart-wrenching, humorous and violent. Simultaneously modern and primitive, it achieves to be concept-driven while using a teenage language of revolution.
