Guitarist, composer and teacher Marcelo Gutfraind lived five years in the United States, where he was awarded a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music. There, he attended clinics with Pat Metheny, Kenny Werner, Gary Burton, Jim Hall and John Scofield. He released four albums: Experimentos de ida y vuelta (1994, PAI); Río abajo, (2003, Bau); Segundo plano (2010, Sofá Records) and Notre (2012, Sofá Records), featuring all original compositions. Also, he recorded Percepciones (2006, Blue Art) with pianist Paula Shocron, and appeared on albums by Eleonora Eubel, Ricardo Cavalli and Jerónimo Carmona. As a teacher, he was a faculty member of the Jazz program at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Manuel de Falla and at the Escuela de Música Contemporánea between 1999 and 2012. He has also taught privately for more than thirty years.
