Born in Munich with Italian and German roots and now based in the Netherlands, vibraphonist Marco Ullstein has cultivated a rich tapestry of musical influences, ranging from classical percussion studies to oriental and jazz music.
In recent years, Marco has achieved success in various international competitions and on renowned stages with his Marco Ullstein Quintet. Their first tour in the Netherlands included performances at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, and JazzBoz Festival. Internationally, they have performed in Belgium, Germany, and at prestigious festivals such as Umbria Jazz, Fara Music Now, and Barga Jazz Festival in Italy.
The international ensemble, formed in The Hague in 2020, combines modern elements with a shared passion for traditional jazz, brought to life through vibraphone, tenor sax, guitar, bass, and drums. Marco’s compositions, influenced by various genres, emphasize storytelling through vibrant arrangements, allowing space for each musician’s individual expression.
