Naoko Sakata, Japanese born pianist, moved to Gothenburg in Sweden in 2008 and the year after she formed the trio. They represented Sweden at Young Nordic jazz comets in 2009 and Naoko won Soloist prize. Since then, trio has performed many concerts in Nordic country, Europe , Japan , Africa. They have released 2 CDs “Kaleidoscope” ”Flower Clouds” and this year 2016, they have released their 3rd album ”Dreaming tree”.
Naoko Sakata Trio moves in the mysterious fields between the composed and the improvised. Beauty contrasts the unsightly in a world where there is no horizon and the only visible colors are the ones you choose to see. Intuitive interplay with quick turns and a lot of surprises is one of the hallmarks of this trio; and the repertoire is based on the original compositions of the bandmembers, making each member equally valuable in the musical ecosystem.
