Oleg Grymov plays alto saxophone and clarinet. He is also lead saxophone player in the Oleg Lundstrem Orchestra. Listing Charlie Parker among his main influences, Grymov followed him by choosing alto sax as his main instrument. In 1997, he won the National Youth Jazz Contest in Rostov-on-Don. In 2000, he graduated from Alexander Oseychuk’s class at Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and got a place in the Igor Butman Orchestra. At the same time, he started his own swing band Muzika tolstykh [Music of the Fat], where he played clarinet. He has played at Le Festival in Moscow and Tver, at the Moscow International House of Music (Alexey Kozlov Program, 2006), and at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow—with the Igor Butman Sextet. He has also performed with Alexey Kruglov, Miles Griffith and Michel Marre among others.
