In 2007, three musicians from the Brazilian town of St. Andre, an industrial, grey town in the state of São Paulo, got together to jam to some jazz standards. With the rehearsals becoming more frequent, their improvisation skills started to take control, putting aside the jazz numbers that were the main focus at first, bringing to light tunes with the influence of Be-bop, Free jazz and other contemporary styles such as rock, hip-hop and eve electronic music.
Otis Trio is João Ciriaco, the bass man of slaps and mysterious scales. A soul, jazz and black music aficionado. Flavio Lazzarin is the rhythm master, pounding the skins with feeling and creativity, using chains, smashed cymbals on the floor, double snares among other unorthodox settings.
