“Dreaming High” is the first album by Pedro Martins, one of the most promising jazz guitarists and composers of the new generation. On this debut recording, the young songwriter enlisted help from acoustic guitarist Daniel Santiago, saxophonist Josue Lopez, bassist Andre Vasconcellos, drummers Alex Buck and Kiko Freitas and pianist Felipe Viegas. The music here is reminiscent of Pat Metheny's earlier work. It's accessible yet complex enough for repeated listening and has many layers of musical emotions and textures. “Dreaming High” was recorded when Martins was just 16 years old. Now at 19 he's released one of the most interesting and imaginative jazz albums of the year. Looking to hearing more from this talented young artist.
