Alfredo of Rocha Vianna Filho, was born in Rio de Janeiro, on April 23, 1897. The nickname of Pixinguinha came from the junction of two other nicknames: Pizindim (small good) and bixiguinha (for having had the disease).
He was the fourth of ten sons of a musical family. His father was musician and several of his siblings also. Still new he began to accompany his father, flautist, in dances and parties, playing small guitar. At 12 years he made his first work, the cry " Can of Milk" that was inspired in the whiners, bohemian musicians that watered to drinks and music after whole nights, had the habit of taking the strange milk that was in the doors of the houses...
