“Pó de Café Quartet” is a Brazilian jazz group created in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo from the meeting of experienced musicians from the local scene representing the new generation of Brazilian jazz.
Formed in 2007 by Bruno Barbosa (bass), Duda Lazarini (drums), Marcelo Toledo (sax) and Leandro Cunha / Murilo Barbosa (piano), the quartet was responsible for the “Jazz na Coisa” project, which for three years has attracted an eclectic public to listen to jazz. When the band started playing, it was difficult to play jazz outside of Brazil’s big cities. There were no jazz clubs in the band’s hometown of Ribeirão Preto. With the success of “Jazz na Coisa”, the Pó de Café Quartet has managed to change the jazz scene in Ribeirão Preto.
