PRIM was formed in Vienna in October 2015 by three musicians with diverse musical backgrounds. Taking inspiration from modern groups such as Swedish jazz trio e.s.t. and The Avishai Cohen Trio, they set out to create melodies that manifest their own style of playing. German pianist Felix Biller employs a wide range of styles. He has virtuosic technique, yet manages to create beautifully minimalist lines. Konuray Mutluer is the bass player of the trio. Having moved from Istanbul to Vienna to study, he played in various groups before joining PRIM. His very melodic bass playing is influenced by latin and middle-eastern music and serves as the harmonic foundation of the band. After the unexpected death of their founding member in september 2016, Austrian drummer Ralph Dammerer, the trio found their new member in the Egyptian musician Sherif Abdalla, who brings a new rhythmic feel to the group.
