Ramon Lopez is a Spanish drummer who has been living in France since 1985. Self taught man; he started drums in rock bands from the 70s. He attended a Max Roach concert in Madrid in 1980 which will definitely influence his musical path. He goes in toward jazz then in January 1985 moved to Paris where he will get known in the experimental scene.
He records several albums in the 90s with François Cotinaud whom he joined his quartet in 1985: Princesse (1990), Pyramides (1992), Opéra (1993, in duo).
At the same time, he begins to learn Indian percussion and more specifically tabla. He follows the teaching of Krishna Govinda K.C. then Sri Subhankar Banerjee and will be teacher of indian music at the national conservatory of dance and music of Paris from 1994 to 2001.
