Richard GALLIANO is a French accordionist born in 1950. He was influenced with European accordion music since the early age (his father is Italian-born accordion teacher). He started playing at the age of 4 - at the same time he studied harmony, counterpoint and trombone (at the Nice Conservatoire). He discovered jazz in his teenage years, through the music of Clifford BROWN.
Galliano's influences widened to other shades of jazz music - from bossa nova to free jazz; from Astor PIAZZOLA; from tango to orchestral jazz, from contemporary jazz to more traditional froms.
He collaborated with Jason MRAZ, Jan GARBAREK, Miroslav VITOUS, Ron CARTER and Charles AZNAVOUR, to name only few.
His musical style is flexibility, imaginative, and extremely expressive; varying from dreamy melodic passages to dissonant tone clusters.
