Sam Pannunzio was born in 1949 in Colorado and was exposed to great musicians very early on. He remembers especially the Bill Evans Trio. Long Piano introductions, Bass Player going in and out of traditional 4/4 feel and drummers that played complimentary styles to the music. "To play with less traditional rules was complete creativity for me. On the negative side at that time it was difficult to team up with other musicians who felt and played the same. When I couldn't find those with the same ideas I had to turn them on or teach them the concept of playing in a complimentary style. The term Interplay is probably the best word that describes this type of playing. For this reason and to this very day I am very selective with whom I play with. In the early 1970's my new wife and I came to the Northwest.
