Secret Keeper’s unique take on chamber jazz will appeal to fans of Jim Hall, Bill Frisell, or Jimmy Giuffre. This duo is made up of two of the most innovative players and composers on the New York jazz scene, Mary Halvorson and Stephan Crump.
Halvorson is a major new voice in jazz guitar and her quintet gave one of standout performances at the 2013 Newport Jazz Fest. She has been featured in the New York Times, JazzTimes, and DownBeat – which described her as “…a genuinely exciting face in the creative music scene…[her] writing has great range and originality, and [her] precise, hardscrabble guitar playing is just plain bad-ass.” Stephan Crump is a great, classically trained bassist who plays with contemporary giants like Vijay Iyer and Steve Lehman.
