Sinequanon is a contemporary jazz group from Brazil, which explores collective improvisation in a typical acoustic jazz setting. The group`s influences include NY jazz and contemporary classical music, along with Brazilian jazz.
The group's history starts in the late 1990`s in the USA, where Lupa and Carlos began a partnership. After years performing in various line-ups, they recorded the cd “IMAGES” in 2000, which ran as Best Latin Jazz Album at the Latin Grammy in the following year.
Back in Brazil, they put a quartet together in 2001 with sax player Vítor Alcântara and acoustic bassist Guto Brambilla, under the name Sinequanon. This group recorded the cds “SINEQUANON”, “TELESCÓPIO”, and “HORIZONTE ARTIFICIAL”.
Since then, the group has been performing all over Brazil, in cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Cascavel, Campinas, Joinville, Aracaju and Salvador. In 2011, bassist Sidiel Vieira joins the group.
