Steffen Schackinger was born in the centre of Denmark, on the island of Fyn. He started out on the violin as a kid, later moving on to cello and classical piano. With the classical and electric guitar he finally found his right instrument.
For the past several years, Steffen has been focusing on ethnic music and has been finding inspiration in both Irish folk and Indian rhythms. The Indian Sitar and the Bouzouki has been added to the list of instruments he’s playing.
Steffen’s guitar playing contains elements of rock, blues, jazz/fusion, and country. He has found inspiration from several of the major guitar heroes – including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler. Classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Stephen Sondheim have also had a major influence on Steffen’s musical development.
