The BEAT FREAKS – is a music group consisting of some outstanding jazz musicians with the Szczecin-Danish origin. The Scandinavian character of the music is due to the fact that half of the band developed their musical language while learning in the prestigious music academy in Odense. This affected the sound of the band and the courageous approach to the form.
The band was founded in 2014 by Michał Starkiewicz (guitar), who invited Tomasz Licak (tenor saxophone) and Paweł Grzesiuk (bass) as well as a Copenhagen-resident Radek Wośko (drums) to cooperate. After several lenghty sessions the material was crystalized and finally presented to audiences in Szczecin in 2015 and Christiania Jazz Club in Copenhagen in February 2016.
