Tim Pfau, born in 1951 in Mannheim, started playing guitar when he was fourteen. The English blues and rock groups of the 60s, like the Yardbirds, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Cream and especially the guitarists Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green, Mick Taylor and Mike Bloomfield became his early heroes, later George Benson, Larry Carlton, John Scofield and Lee Ritenour. At sixteen, he had his first band. In 1972 he met the keyboarder Günter Hornung from the already successful group Zyma in the Rhine-Neckar triangle. With this band he had until 1976 numerous gigs in clubs and major events together with in Germany at that time well-known groups such as birth control and Kraan. From 1977 to 1982 he studied classical guitar at the Musikhochschule Mannheim-Heidelberg.
