Guitarist and composer Ty Citerman writes, performs and teaches music for numerous ensembles across the spectrum of jazz, rock and new music. His professional career began as a teenager in his native St. Louis, and then moved to larger stages in New York City in the early 1990’s.
Ty is a founding member and composer for the internationally acclaimed punk/jazz/new music ensemble Gutbucket. He has also shared the stage with such diverse ensembles and performers as the American Composers Orchestra, John Zorn, Kaoru Watanabe, Glenn Branca, Jon Madof, Eyal Maoz, Frank London, Rhys Chatham, Jill Sobule, Todd Reynolds, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Ethel, Brian Chase, the composer collective Anti-Social Music, and many more. Ty leads the Jewish-themed quartet Bop Kabbalah and is also a composer and performer in The Collapse Quartet.
