United Shades of Artistry celebrates the Eastern European roots of pianist and composer Levon Mikaelian while also pulling from Latin and African music and rhythmic structure for a decidedly fresh presentation that so many artists have attempted yet with minimal success.

Hello, I’m Levon Mikaelian, the founder and the band leader of the United Shades of Artistry. Born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia in a musicians’ family, I started playing the piano at the age of 7. My parents were very supportive of me following the family tradition. I had great instructors, and learned a lot from my dad, Mikael Mikaelian, who is an excellent musician and teacher.
