Nigerian-born, London-raised, and Brooklyn-based Zem Audu is an award winning saxophonist, composer and producer with a sound that blends contemporary jazz with the multicultural grooves of West Africa and The Caribbean.
Zem attended Trinity College of Music in London England under the tutelage of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers alumni Jean Toussaint. He graduated top of his class and was awarded a school-wide graduating award for artistic excellence. Zem also studied privately with British saxophone legend Courtney Pine. In 2010 Zem emigrated to the United States, and received U.S permeant resident status soon thereafter. He currently resides in Brooklyn NY.
Zem has performed and recording with an eclectic range of musicians including: Jason Moran, Kirk Lightsey, James Genus, Frank McComb, Pee Wee Ellis, Maceo Parker, Hugh Masekela, Jazz Jamaica, Miss Lauryn Hill, The Skatalites, Bleachers, Taylor Swift, The 1975 and Steel Pulse with whom Zem received a grammy nomination
