And this is not exactly a typical jug band song. Considering a piano is in the band (played by Thomas A. Dorsey himself) Apparently Johnson was much more than a little bass slapper in a short lived (?) jug band. I dont think anyone knows who the jug player here is. Is there even a jug played in the song? I hear it but,,,,no one is listed...Who the "L" knows.....But -I only included 1 photo of Johnson (not much else to find- no photos of the actual band available...etc etc ) but there is much more to learn about this man and a few of the people who played on this old cut. Bill Johnson lived to 100 years old. Interesting fact. Jaxon was a female imperonator in his vaudeville days so maybe thats why it sounds as if he is singing with a woman here...? Just another oddity that I found and I grew fond of and ,,note,,,I did not get the song from the Red Hot & Jazz website. But to learn more about this little band and Bill Johnson ( and a few others here) please feel free to visit the links listed. THANKS for listening.
