Kansas Smitty’s House Band bring you their fourth and final EP of 2018: Winter. The EP is made up of songs that'll warm your soul. The tracks were all recorded in different places, and in one case different time zones, across the last three years, but all share the mood we need to get through the winter months. The band has put out four EPs throughout the year which achieved extensive playlisting on Spotify. They were shortlisted for the Jazz FM UK Jazz Act of the Year award and are releasing a full length album in December featuring their best tunes from all of their 2018 output.
The lead track 'Take Me Home' is a celebration of band leader Giacomo Smith’s hometown of Saratoga Springs in upstate New York. It features American guest vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and long time friend of the band Curtis Stigers. 'Twentieth Century', a heartfelt paean to the sounds of Duke Ellington, has been a stalwart feature of the bands live sets all year long.
The late-night Edward Hopper-esque snowy street scene of ‘After Midnight’ then moves into the Stax groove of 'Those Lies You Told Me'. Penned by the House Band's own instrumentalist, Pete Horsfall back in 2015, it's been biding its time in the archives for the right moment.
