Lyte Records is delighted that Northern Irish jazz trumpeter and BBC broadcaster Linley Hamilton has returned to release his third album, In Transition, this May. Since his 2011 UK breakthrough Taylor Made, Hamilton has been busy touring the album in Ireland and Britain, whilst also making appearances with Snow Patrol, Van Morrison and Nigel Mooney. Recorded at Grouse Lodge, Westmeath, In Transition is his most contemporary release yet and a natural progression from the modern straight-ahead sound of Taylor Made. He's joined by Irish players Johnny Taylor, his pianist of five years, bassist Damian Evans and drummer Dominic Mullan, with guitarist Julien Colarossi guesting on three tracks. The material is diverse and alongside originals by Hamilton and Taylor includes interpretations of Rufus Wainwright's 'Dinner At 8', Abdullah Ibrahim's 'Joan-Capetown Flower' and Rogers and Hart's 'I Didn't Know What Time It Was'.
