BERNIE GRUNDMAN AND LYN STANLEY THE MAKING OF A DIRECT TO DISC RECORDING (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
LYN STANLEY
Online Video

Jazz music community with review and forums

This is a mini-documentary about the process of making a rare direct to disc recording called London With A Twist, part two of Lyn Stanley's Julie London tribute project. Bernie Grundman's Mastering Studio was converted to a recording studio for 2 days--January 19 & 20, 2019 by engineers Allen Sides, Bernie Grundman and Steve Genewick. Jazz vocalist Lyn Stanley and her top jazz musicians also discuss the process of how this rarely done --straight from microphones to vinyl lathe to make the master recording--a vinyl record. No fixes--just the real live recording with three songs per side allowing for only three to seven seconds between songs. All 12 songs on the album are vocal and band. All arrangements were created by the band and Lyn. Watch how this historical recording was made.
