"Miles Between" is a song about the beautiful expanse of land between Ellensburg and Seattle, Washington. After receiving the music from Shawn Schlogel, Nancy Erickson Lamont wrote the lyrics while traveling across that landscape, only to find out that Shawn had written the melody & chords in the same location while driving back & forth to Ellensburg, visiting his girlfriend! The song was meant to be.
Lyrics :
Sweet scent of lilacs fill the air
Light blue sky, birds calling
Counting the mile markers between the
City streets
Soft grey blue mountain range surrounds
Holds you close, sweet embrace
Long stretches of the rolling hills of
Sustenance
Sun light
Bouncing off the white rocks
Cool shade
Resting down below
Ripples
As the hawk descends to
Skim the
Surface of the lake.. and the
Green tufts of sagebrush drifting by
Warm dry breeze, windmills turning
Beauty in the miles between the
City Streets
Sun light
Bouncing off the white rocks
Cool shade
Resting down below
Mountains
Majestically appearing
Slow-ly
Patterns and borders line the fields
As they prepare for harvest
Chasing the butterflies and frogs in
The Miles Between
