Filmed in low light and best viewed in HD! Australian/Scots electro-acoustic trio Sensaround - Alister Spence, Raymond Macdonald and Shoeb Ahmad - work in a unique middle ground between melodic jazz ambience, ghostly dub and post-punk experiments as lo-fi rhythms press up against woodwind melodies and Rhodes tones are set awash in free percussion. Recorded at Ahmad’s studio Brick Lane during their first tour, their critically acclaimed debut Isotropes was released in 2014 while the limited edition live document Travelogue was released in early 2016, both on the hellosQuare label.
Sensaround join the Provenance family in the second half of 2016 with the release of two new albums, the first of which is Little Stabs. Recorded live in Tokyo, Kobe and Okayama with famed Japanese improvisors Michiyo Yagi, Satoko Fujii, Natsuki Tamura and Yasuko Kaneko, Little Stabs is a cut’n’splice collage edited together in the spirit of Teo Macero and Holger Czukay.
