For their 4th full-length studio album, Swiss band Sonar asked US guitarist David Torn to produce and mix (thanks to Henry Kaiser and Anil Prasad for making the connection).
David and recording engineer D. James Goodwin flew in from NY on a cold day in February 2017 and met the band at Powerplay Studios near Zürich.
David brought his guitar "just in case". The band recorded one track as a quartet and then asked David if he would like to play along on an additional take. The energy shift that took place during that take was so fundamental that everybody in the studio (including Anil, who was present throughout most of the studio time) agreed that David simply had to play on every track. Which he did.
Stephan Thelen: tritone guitar
Bernhard Wagner: tritone guitar
Christian Kuntner: electric bass
Manuel Pasquinelli: drums
David Torn: electric guitar, live-looping & manipulation
