WHAT IS, TARBABY?
"These are very interesting times in which we live. Those of us who have spent countless hours learning from, listening to, and being mentored by some of the greatest practitioners of this art form sit idly by as the very elements that we inherently know as requisites to the creating of this music are being removed by those who haven't learned, listened, been mentored...or simply can't [see]. It is somewhat tantamount to the Arawak tribe watching peacefully [passively?] as strange men in gigantic vessels come to their shores...
WE are not TARBABY... JAZZ is... We simply want to hug him... for as long as we live."
The sonic project that is TARBABY was conceived in a studio session between three of the most multi-dimensional musicians in jazz in the Summer of 2006 - pianist Orrin Evans, drummer Nasheet Waits, bassist Eric Revis.
