Acoustic trio from Rome with French name ("Black Cat") and music, heavily influenced by EST.
Everyone familiar with Southern Europe jazz (or rock) music knows that artists from that region usually have their own strong sound's signature (doesn't matter what genre of music they are playing). Such, huge category of RPI (rock progressivo Italiano) is nothing else but bunch of classically trained artists, playing neo-classical compositions and Italian pop songs using some rock arrangements.Similar situation often exists speaking about jazz music.
Chat Noir could be a a good illustration. Their music is catchy (even if at the end of the album you will hardly remember even single tune), melodic, very melancholic, perfectly polished and extremely safe. Read - EST for Southern European market. Possibly, nothing is wrong with it. At least they are successfully balancing this (jazzy) side from elevators music (new age). But,to be honest, even if their music is pure instrumental, there are not much elements of jazz (any form of jazz!) on it at all.
I have my own tag for such music - jazz for jazz-haters. No improvisation,no experimentation, no musical freedom - just comfortable easy listening. But - quality one.
