Track 11 and 12 are sourced from very rare 78 rpm records owned by a Japanese collector. Track 11 is from a 78 record from the REX Hollywood label by Charlie Mingus and His Orchestra, recorded in the spring of 1949. Dolphy, age 20 at the time, takes a solo on the second chorus on alto sax. Track 12 was recorded in February 1949, and according to the Dolphy scholars, is believed to contain the first recorded solo by Dolphy when he was with a big band led by drummer Roy Porter.
