About this release
cassette Collision Cassettes (US)
The format of this tape is not meant to imply that the simultaneous audition of two tracks at once is intended (although it remains the listeners right to do so). In order to listen to this tape as designed, it is necessary to adjust the amplifier so as to hear one channel (left or right) at a time. This may be done with the balance control or by disconnecting one of the inputs from the cassette player.
All duets were recorded live in either the partners home or some other space where they spend much of their time. Recording equipment consisted of a Shure 57 microphone and a Marantz PMD 221 monophonic cassette recorder. The duets were then mastered on a Tandberg 20A without overdubs or internal edits. Dubs were made in real time direct from the master.
The travielo is a folding electric cello designed and built by Ernest Nussbaum. The Spring String is an electric mono-chord with a whammy bar designed and built by William Kelley.
Thanks to snobb for the addition
