John Coltrane’s acclaimed performances at the 1963 and 1965 Newport Jazz Festival, containing definitive renditions of “My Favorite Things,” are now newly restored from the original three-track master tapes. His ’63 show was previously released in edited form; this release includes several unheard minutes of “Impressions” and Willis Conover’s stage introductions. The ’65 set was previously released on the LP New Thing At Newport. Now they are both finally available in one place. Coltrane At Newport also features insightful new liner notes by author Ashley Kahn.
