About this release
Transparency – 0251 (US)
77 minutes recorded in France with Rufus playing baby soprano sax and American bagpipes, in tandem with a French bagpipe group (whose bagpipes have a completely different tuning for a strange and somewhat mysterious-sounding contrast). Rufus is also backed by a French jazz rhythm section on several of the tracks and sings the definitive version of his signature song, Wake Up! It's Me!. Second disc is a complete interview from just before his death, plus 20 minutes of music by one of his sons. Third disc captures Rufus live in Jamaica
