After some year of playing with leading SF area musicians, in 1998 drummer Scott Amendola started his own project. This album is his (self-released) debut. All songs but one are his own compositions, and he successfully demonstrates wide variety of genres he are competent in. Very melodic, fun and inspired, this album contains compositions from funk to bluesy electric fusion to folksy jazz.
Music is mostly mid tempo, not too complex, but very playful, played by acoustic band with electric guitarist. All album is very collective result, not soloist could be mentioned - every collaborating musician has enough space and time for his improvs. Electric guitarist Dave MacNab has quite bluesy (often - Bill Frisell-like) sound, but in combination with small orchestra of vertical bass, drummer, very attractive sax player and violinist all music is very full bodied and varies enough for not being boring.
Quite rare successful balance of accessible and not polished or pop-oriented music, nice listening for everyone interested in modern fusion.
