As i listen to this lp, i can't help but beleive in sun ra's theories of his cosmic origins; and he seems to have surounded himself with wonderfull muscicians who seem to agree with his philosophies on music at least, for this album is such a cohesive body of work yet it contains so much in it from coleman to pharoas to mingus yet i must insist that in no way is he taking anything from these great men yet it seems like he's chaneling all of the radiant energy of every vibration to ever occure on our planet: i am even reminded of heldon richard pinhas minimalistic electronics and artmans lard free in the song infinity of the universe. strange music yet it swings...and grooves...hell on the first side of the album id be able to dance with my lady to it and the second part leaves me in a contemplative meditative lethargy... enough said by me here is what sun ra has to say on the album notes; "The vibrations of the sound seem the same but the meaning of the sounds take sepereate directions at the crossroads of the cosmic-point of the arrow....Beyond this age through the darkness of the light years and the light years of the darkness is the pure light. The light is as the darkness becaus the light is the image and the shadow of the fire"...one of my favorite lps by this titan of jazz avant guard free cosmic jazz whaterever you need to call this masterpeice...
