Electric Lady Big Band - 50 years of Hendrix’s masterpiece.
An all-star 16-piece big band assembled by guitarist/arranger Denny Ilett re-imagines Electric Ladyland, the 1968 double album that cemented Jimi Hendrix’s reputation as a true visionary. It couldn’t be more fitting that this iconic and groundbreaking work, released 50 years ago, be performed in the very club where Jimi’s astounding guitar was heard for the very last time. Inspired by the re-workings of Hendrix compositions that Gil Evans produced in the mid-70’s, the whole album will be played in sequence and features many of the UK’s most inspiring and innovative jazz soloists.
